I understand what you mean. But Intel is the underdog here, and by far. They need to do better than whatever ARM and its associated guys make.

I'm been reading Chipguy's article again, where he mentions the battle between RISC and x86. Back then, x86 was able to defend the territory with less performance thanks to x86 having volume. By all intents and purposes, Intel is more like RISC in this story than x86. Remember, just like x86 had software advantage then, ARM has application advantage over x86 in smartphones.

And from what I hear, Intel is more than 2x away from chip-level power. Even the 1.3W version is more power than full SoC on ARM.
