Re: Results and Strategy
Hi jt and Thanks. 2009 was better. I'll post my annuals this evening.
today's Sell was for over 80% as many shares as my initial purchase, but still represented only 11% of the total shares owned.
Is this only for your AXAS stock holding? Meaning that over the past 5+ years, you've been accumulating alot of shares?
Yes. Right now, my Actual share's held, after today's Sell, are 6.5 times my original purchase in October, 2005. Not to mention the $ spun out over that timeframe. AXAS is one of my most active holdings (and second biggest in actual value at the moment). It bounces around like a ping pong ball. It's a penny stock for sure, but has been in business for a long time.
Not for the faint-hearted though. And probably not for the newbie either.
I noticed in your post 33466, GIEW has all stocks (though probably not a complete list) as opposed to ETF or Indexes. Is this a personal preference and/or one of the reasons for using LD-AIM?
Yes. All stocks, personal preference; as I think they lend themselves to AIM's volatility capture potential better than just about any fund or etf I'm aware of.
And I do use LD-AIM exclusively as it allows me to spread all this single stock risk over a broader set of holdings. Kind of like my own fund!
ETFs are probably better for a newbie to get started with as the total investment will be spread across multiple companies versus one or two. Is this correct?
Probably true, but don't expect to see much trading as they tend to move over long cyclic periods. It depends on which ones you choose. There are a lot of folks here who would be in a better position to guide you in that respect since I don't use them. If I did, I would probably run much tighter settings on a much bigger initial buy in. Remember, the compounding comes with activity.
Thanks for your replys and comments.
You're welome. Anytime.
