Making a stock more affordable to investors would require a forward split, IMO. A reverse split is an attempt to erase dilution and thus attracting larger investors. However, I am not sure on that either.

Good point on R/S. There is the danger that, by raising the price, the floor; the "this stock is CHEAP! I'll BUY!" point is now that much lower, thereby allowing market cap to plunge. Also, reverse splits are often sold by investors, at least in the short-term.

... a company called ondine medical i use to own 35000 shares at $0.04 there was a reverse split 1:15 now i own 2333 shares $0.75 same value. now the company said they did it to promote the stock and get the share price moving all that happened so far is the stock trading lower ...
