Viking, that is almost precisely what I feel is happening. I would add that I think that the short activity may in fact be the good guys themselves in their attempt to enable the concert you describe. In this case the shorts have no case because there is no case to be had. When we are dealing with a short situation that is not justifiable at almost any level, then I would suggest that the truth is staring us right in the face. The short position is really the long position.
Could someone please recap for me how it is that MS is thought to be buying/covering the stock? I'm sure it has been covered before but I missed it. Who is the source for this belief? This is not which poster, who did the poster hear it from?
