Thanks for the reply. That accords well with what I heard from Matt Coffey in a conversation also a few months ago. Without disclosing anything specific about the efficacy they've been seeing in the clinic, he suggested that a (the?) major limiting factor has been the low permeability of brain tissue to fluid diffusion, which makes it difficult to bring the virus into physical proximity with the maximum extent of cancerous growth. He was very excited about the potential of the infusion pump to overcome this limitation.
The other very interesting comment he made was that the rules for biologics did not necessarily require the full cycle of three phases for approval. Unfortunately I was unable to follow up with this because of a distraction caused by my children.
