While Ericsson UMTS WCDMA currently utilizes FDD..Only FDD/TDD dual mode operation supports all UMTS WCDMA ARCHITECTURE..IMO:The MUOS WCDMA Air Interface is not limited to FDD..unless some one can Cite to the contrary ..IMO:Most Siemen/NEC WCDMA Infrastructure currently supports FDD/TDD..
It mentions WTDD in context with InterDigital and also reminds us that nobody has launched a "commercial" deployment of WTDD yet, but what does any of that stuff have to do with MUOS?
MUOS is using W-CDMA "FDD" based on everything we have seen so far, and... regardless of who thought what back when, IDCC got the MUOS contract. QCOM and the other guys finished second or worse in the competition to provide "commercial" 3G air interface tech for the MUOS program.
Yee Haw! Score one for the little guy from KOP. $18 million here and $450 million there, before we know it IDCC will be racking up some serious cash this year. LOL!
