If you look at the solar radiation spectrum chart at the following link you can can see that at sea level, most power is in the infrared. It doesn't appear to be much (the area under the curve), but it appears to be more than the power in the visible light.
I'm aware of the history of this company and the disgruntled former investors from the Octillion days. I'm betting on trust in the University of South Florida. The research is real and it appears that NENE may have stumbled onto a breakthrough that they didn't expect years ago to ever really happen.
