This reminds me of a situation I just had: a person recently associated with our organization has been insinuating himself into some long-running legal issues we have; I am one of the liaisons with the attorneys. He came to my office and said that our lawyers are doing a terrible job. I asked why, and he said: "Well, you know what they're doing now, don't you?" I asked: "No, what?" He responded "Well, if you don't know, there's nothing to talk about..."
In other words, he was blowing smoke to make himself appear smarter, and in the know. Needless to say, he's been asked to butt out.
