My job as an investor is to get as much information on my investment as I can legally be privy to. Job of IR is to disseminate as much information about a Company as is legally permissable without violating insider rules. Sometimes when I call IR I feel a bit intimidated, like I am imposing. I am a retired journalist and think I know my roll as investor.
