No direction is given by these signals. You must discern which direction this MajorMove might occur.

This alert supercedes the Alert given Tuesday 12/07/10 because we had another McClellan Oscillator with a smallchg on-close tonight.

In the past 3 days, we have had three of these smallchange Alert signals given by the McClellan Oscillators. It is rare to have 3 smallchanges on-close in the Oscillators in a row. In my recollection it tends to occur each year; to my knowledge there is no particular significance in it other that the momentum decision is at this point confused.

It is interesting to note:
Advance/Declines for Nasdaq is not confused see recent SUMMATIONS for Nasdaq, the momentum direction is Upward. see charts below.

On the other hand, Advance/Declines for NYSE is confused, see recent SUMMATIONS for NYSE, the momentum was upward for a few days and is now downward for a few days enough to turn in both directions. see charts below.

NYT 6:35pm= "With Filibuster, C-SPAN_HaD_A_Hit" (Words_&_VIDEO)

By BRIAN STELTER
Mr. Sanders has gone to C-SPAN.
__LIVE
http://www.buzzfeed.com/expresident/watch-the-bernie-sanders-filibuster-live

Senator Bernard Sanders, independent of Vermont, started speaking against the Obama administration’s tax cut deal on Friday morning, in full view of C-SPAN2’s cameras, and by lunchtime his old-fashioned filibuster was a social media sensation, with untold thousands of people commenting in real-time on Web sites like Twitter. The live video remains available on C-SPAN’s Web site.

Sensing an opportunity, C-SPAN2 — the Senate-oriented sister channel to C-SPAN, which chiefly covers the House of Representatives — promoted the event on its Web site and Twitter account. Taking lessons from the production values of cable news, a graphic on the bottom of the C-SPAN2 screen told viewers, “ALERT: Sen. Sanders Began What He Calls a Tax Cut Filibuster at 10:25am ET.”

All C-SPAN2 needs now is a clock to tick away the minutes that the senator has been speaking.

One can only guess about whether Mr. Sanders’ long speech will effect the tax cut compromise. But his stakeout on the Senate floor certainly enlivened people who agree with him — or who simply wanted a public debate about tax cuts, income inequality, trade policies and the other topics he tackled. Jose Antonio Vargas, a senior contributing editor to The Huffington Post, wondered aloud on Friday evening, “Is this the most shared filibuster in the nation’s history?!”

It sure looked that way. Mr. Sanders’ name was at the top of Twitter’s “trending topics” list by Friday evening, closely followed by a hashtag, #filibernie, that has become a public chat room for viewers.

By refreshing the page for #filibernie, Twitter users were able to read real-time reactions from hundreds of viewers. Most of the reactions were from people who were praising Mr. Sanders’ stance against the tax cut deal.

Other posts on Twitter were short quotes from Mr. Sanders’ speech. Encouraging such behavior, Mr. Sanders’ staff regularly posted onto Twitter about the long speech, at one point even denying “erroneous rumors of a plan to end at 6pm.” At 6:25 p.m., Mr. Sanders passed the eight-hour mark on the Senate floor.

Mr. Sanders’ Twitter account gained more than 4,000 new followers on Friday, his staff said.

The speech was a bigger deal online than on TV, at least in its early hours. But it is likely to get heavy play on MSNBC’s left-leaning shows on Friday night. On his Twitter page, Keith Olbermann, the 8 p.m. anchor on MSNBC, deemed it “An Older Mr. Smith Goes To Washington,” and said he would share the highlights of the speech on his program.

News Web sites like CNN.com also live-streamed the proceedings on the floor, as did Mr. Sanders’ own Web site. According to The Huffington Post, that video stream “became so popular that it temporarily shut down the Senate video server.”

For its part, C-SPAN was treating Mr. Sanders’ speech as the top story on its Web site Friday evening.

"Tax breaks for special interests sweeten tax-cut deal"

By David Lightman

WASHINGTON — Dozens of tax breaks designed to help a wide variety of interests — students, teachers, energy companies and lots of others — are due to expire at the end of the year, and most of them have been tacked on to the White House/Republican tax-cut deal to help it get through Congress.

The Senate is scheduled to take its first test vote on the package Monday afternoon, and now that the package has ballooned to include these breaks, it's expected to pass.

Inclusion of the breaks is either traditional Washington capitulation to special interests or vital help for industries and consumers who badly need it, depending on one's point of view.

"People who benefit from these smaller items put on a big push. It's worth a lot of money to them, and they can hire the lobbyists to help. There's really nobody on the other side arguing against this," said Roberton Williams, a senior fellow at the Tax Policy Center, a nonpartisan research group.

Tom Buis, the chief executive officer of Growth Energy, which promotes ethanol and got incentives in the bill, had a different take: "In a weak economy, you just can't cut off tax programs without creating havoc out there."

The list of breaks isn't getting the intense scrutiny and publicity that the higher-profile expiring Bush-era rates on income taxes, capital gains and other broad measures attracted.

One reason is the cost: extending the 38 expiring smaller business tax breaks would cost $43.1 billion over two years, according to Congress' Joint Committee on Taxation, a relatively minor part of the $740.8 billion two-year tax package.

Most of the smaller measures weren't included in the original "framework" that President Barack Obama and Republican congressional leaders announced Monday, which led many senators and members of the House of Representatives to protest.

"Any compromise reached must have important (Gulf Coast) zone tax-credit extensions that are so desperately needed in Louisiana," said Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La.

On Thursday, 17 senators, led by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., wrote a letter saying they'd find it "difficult" to support the tax deal unless it continued a program, also due to expire Dec. 31, that allows renewable energy companies to continue using certain existing tax credits.

The energy program and some help for the Gulf were added when the package expanded. It was unclear how many votes the expansion gained for the overall bill, but Senate leaders are confident that it will pass fairly easily. A Landrieu spokesman said she appreciated the Gulf provisions but that she remained concerned about the overall package, and Feinstein is still undecided about the bill.

The bill also now extends dozens of other expiring provisions, usually for a year or two. Among them: help for elementary and secondary school teacher expenses, those who employ people who work on or near Indian reservations, domestic film and television producers, economically depressed areas of Washington, D.C., and areas devastated by 2005's Hurricane Katrina.

Over the years, it's become popular in Congress to pass such tax cuts on a "temporary" rather than permanent basis. That helps to mask their long-term cost, and it helps politicians show constituents _and special interests — that they can make the system work

FORECAST

Monthly $SPX chart since 2009 Bottom

$SPX has now clearly moved above 61.8% Retracement hurdle. (12/12/10)

first posted July 13, 2010 by Chi2
yours is a reasonable question: Ans=

when 1300+ comes since it will be Completing the Five Major Waves Up, there will be a Major Correction.

=====================================

However, this general long term forecast was posted in 2009

----------------------------------

when the Major Bottom was put in at 666, SPX went up about 290 points to Top of Major Wave 1

corrected in Major Wave 2,
then started on a New Angle,

Major Wave 3 topped at 1220,

then it corrected in Major Wave 4, as many normal Major Wave 4's, it was a ZigZag wave of 5 mini-waves.

When Major Wave 4 is completed, Major Wave 5 began,
Major Wave 5 will finish itself at 1300+

thus eventually, i am calling it longer term, before a major correction of any sort of size,

i am still seeing we will get to 1300+
before this may happen.

--------------------------------------
the above is a reconfirmation, today is 12/12/2010

Further i see Wave 5 not fizzling as some Wave 5's do,
but continuing on toward 1300+

and in 2011 seeing Wave 5 or its Extension
continuing upward of 1400.
