most of their "terminal" products use one of their modules (or PC Card) as the basis for moving the data to cellular air interface. It is possible that they pay at module level, but their terminals (also known as gateways, routers, rugged modems, etc) could also be the basis for the royalties at the "terminal" level. Not sure how the triggers are set. In 2004, most of Sierra's business was modules and PC Cards (another type terminal)

The agreement with Sierra is

The patent license agreement covers the sale of wireless terminal units and wireless modules built to Second Generation (2G and 2.5G) IS-136/GSM/GPRS/EDGE/IS-95B and all Third Generation (3G) WCDMA/cdma2000(R) standards.
