We'll have to keep watching IPF to see what transpires. Over the years I've been holding to my prediction that it would be a high end server niche product, disagreeing with the partisans predicting its demise and the partisans predicting it would take over everything.
Both sides are getting closer and closer to my position as time goes by. Even you don't still propose Itanium as a workstation product in the near future! Only the most die-hard AMD partisans are predicting IPF's imminent demise.
So it goes. AMD partisans underestimated the importance of HP's commitment just as Intel partisans underestimated market resistance combined with the emergence of competitive 64-bit alternatives.
