True, that is another possibility, another hypothesis; just as mine was. At this point we don't know, and it really doesn't matter anyway.
But since I assume Hilliard is in the business to make money, I always wondered about TC sharing his work product pro bono. I believe this also fed the fires of those who believe he might be "manipulating" the share/option prices.
I would say it was his choice to leave because yesterday was his last day and he's starting his new job on Monday. Only 2 working days between jobs IMO tells me it was his choice.
