Hi altskier: I remember it all too, scared me. Gee, classes could be cancelled. And you forget that you hadda put your hands over your head for extra protection while under your desk, But all worked out well, and Sherri B's boobies grew over the summer and I was glad to get back to school. Wonderful days.

I remember being the first kid on my block with a fallout shelter. At first I thought Mon and Dad were putting in a swimming pool.

I, too, remember the early 60's as being much more relaxed, laid back, easy to live with. But memory plays tricks on the elderly, and besides I was white and upper middle class. Not everyone had the advantages I took so easliy for granted.

But I wound up in Southeast Asia in 1967, where my fantasy reality came to a crashing conclusion.

>>We were lucky to survive the idealic period you remember.<<

....especially with all that all the lead based paint chipping off walls and playground equipment.

And how us youth of the 50's and 60's that did not wear seat belts and rode in the back of pick-up trucks.

How about the truama of not making the cut for a little league baseball team? I don't know if I will ever get over that. lol

...funny, the other day I had a collage age youg man come into the store and was complaining that he did not have any TV because his cable was down. He was shocked to find out that you can actually get TV free with just a simple antenna attached to your TV. I sold him some 'rabbit ears'.
