I remember being the first kid on my block with a fallout shelter. At first I thought Mon and Dad were putting in a swimming pool.
I, too, remember the early 60's as being much more relaxed, laid back, easy to live with. But memory plays tricks on the elderly, and besides I was white and upper middle class. Not everyone had the advantages I took so easliy for granted.
But I wound up in Southeast Asia in 1967, where my fantasy reality came to a crashing conclusion.
