I show MsMpEng.exe using 81,632K right now (peak 292,664K) and svchost.exe using 47,496K (peak 507,104K).
It's difficult to determine if the large peak value of svchost is too much as it is used to run various processes
for the OS and applications and those processes may be almost any size. Presently I have six (6) svchost
processes running (5.5K, 4.3K, 5.2K, 47.5K, 7.3K and 5.9K) and almost all of them have the peak about equal
to the present value. Only the one odd ball is very large.

I notice you have a Google toolbar running. Toolbars like that whether it's Google, or Ask, or Yahoo, or whatever are a waste of resources, not to mention the information that get's "farmed" about you while you have one running.

I have seen Bruce reco many times that ANY toolbars should be removed from a system because they really serve no useful purpose and it is a portal into your system that nobody needs. I went to Add/Remove programs a long time ago and removed anything that was a toolbar on the advice of several people here on this board. But, ultimately, it's up to you.

MSE will use a lot of resources when it is running a scan.

Scans can and should be scheduled for weekly and in the middle of the night.

If the computer is not on when the scan is scheduled to run, it appears (to me) to want to run the next time the comput3er is turned on.
