a foundry getting x86 is now a real possibility.

I think Intel management should start viewing this as an inevitability, if the GloFo spinoff didn't make it clear already.

Not worried about this one. Making competitive CPUs in the class of AMD and Intel is akin to developing a large commercial airliner such as the Boeing Dreamliner and the Airbus A380.

The 3rd closest competitor by far is Via. Others with supposedly "superior" ISAs couldn't do it, what will change by them having x86?

The software part is odd.

I think the FTC realized they had no case. This is the best they could get.
