Re: Meme - Freedom and Slavery

< Bush loves making the case that "it's not the government's money, it's the people's money." The people have spoken and said "yes, it's our money, and it's also our debt, not the government's debt, and we want to start paying it down." >

Its not my debt. It belongs to a congress that has bought off a majority of the population with gifts paid for by taxpayers. If we could trust congress (HA) to pay off the debt, I would be all for it, but they have proven that more money only equals more spending. The only way to cut congress' spending is to take away the money.

Re: Meme - Freedom and Slavery

Therefore, if you'd like to equate the have-nots as being more fiscally responsible than the haves, I'm all for it.

I didn't see anyone post the full results of the poll, just the fact that a minority was for tax-cuts. Furthermore, although I have nothing against paying down the debt, I also think that giving people back their own money should be a top priority. There is nothing more fiscally responsible about either option. Both are important and both should be done. The only question is the ratio and if we should give tax payers back their own money percentage-wise, or redistribute it like some Socialist welfare state.

BTW, quite a few of the top 1% income earners have also come out against the tax cuts for the wealthy, especially the death tax. Among them are Waren Buffet and Bill Gates.

So what? If they don't want their own money back they can write a check to the government or give it to charity. They do not have the right to tell others what to do with their own money.
