Because no matter what the engineering merits are, you will always perceive Intel as an "evil monopoly" that only seeks to take over the industry.

As a shareholder I certainly hope there is and as someone who spent many years inside Intel facilities I can assure you there is. It's called competition and it's a good thing. That doesn't make it wrong unless you're the loser looking for an excuse and it doesn't make it illegal. You need to come to grips with that.

Who would want to invest in a company that's happy with mediocrity?
