Communist China is going to take it over. -----------------------------------------------------
You are obviously not into car technology. If you were you would know that Chineses automotive glass and AFTER-MARKET parts are inferior to our own and that the quality control mechanisms for China are not anywhere near that of Japan's.
FWIW, GM's new automotive technology (e.g. SST )is impressive and more importantly LEASING is NOW hurting Detroit more than any future China threat.
P.S. If everyone wanted to drive the cheapest car Lexus would be Chapter 11 by now.
Out of politeness I will not ask you what you drive.<GG>
China and Canada Deepen Cooperation on Natural Resources
BEIJING, Jan. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada and China are teaming up to share their knowledge of natural resources industries. Natural Resources Canada signed agreements today with two organizations in the People's Republic of China to cooperate in the fields of minerals and metals and earth sciences.
The agreements, which set out the general terms of the collaboration, are mutually beneficial and pave the way for bilateral dialogue and cooperation. They were signed by Mr. Sun Wensheng, Minister of Land and Resources, Mr. Jiang Weixin, Vice-Minister, National Development and Reform Commission, and the Honourable Jim Peterson, Minister of International Trade Canada, on behalf of the Honourable R. John Efford, Minister of Natural Resources Canada.
"The terrible natural disaster that took place in southern Asia on December 26, 2004, demonstrated that the world's people are all connected and underlined the importance of sharing information and knowledge about the Earth," said Minister Efford. "The signing of these agreements symbolizes the importance with which Canada views dialogue and cooperation with the People's Republic of China and, at the same time, reinforces and strengthens the links between our two countries."
Minister Efford last visited China in the fall of 2004 to promote Canadian expertise in natural resources.
"Canada is a world leader in natural resources management," said Minister Peterson. "We look forward to the scientific and commercial advances that enhanced cooperation with China in that area will bring."
These agreements follow up on a commitment made in 2003 by Canadian and Chinese leaders to advance bilateral cooperation through continued high-level contacts.
The agreement with the National Development and Reform Commission focuses on minerals and metals. Potential areas for cooperation include sustainable development policies and practices, technologies and scientific research, and trade, investment and training.
The agreement with the Ministry of Land and Resources deals with earth sciences and minerals and metals. Potential areas for cooperation include basic geoscience in support of minerals and energy exploration, environmental geology, metals in the environment, non-conventional energy sources, and natural hazards preparedness and emergency response.
The signing of these agreements advances Canada's international role in the natural resources sectors, which are a vital part of our economy and society. It also supports the Government of Canada's commitment to building on the strength of our country and our people.
