Yes, words are cheap. But you won't let me out of jail so that I can demonstrate my ability to become a productive member, and you just said that there is nothing I can say that will get me out of jail.
So that creates a dilemma. How am I supposed to get out of jail? How do I convince you that I can behave?
Myself and others have said that you should just let me out of jail and see if I behave. That, I believe is the solution. If I should get jailed again, I'll sit in here as long as you want me to and I'll discuss my bahvior in a serious manner.
