Joe, re: "Let's move on.", I'd really like to do that, but you, yourself, have pointed out the difficulty. Words are cheap. You've used them before to get out of jail. How can we make this incident the last.

I have no desire to be difficult. I want to find a solution which let's you out ... and provides a reasonable assurance that you will not return.

Let me recap the situation as I see it. I'd be very grateful if you'd (a) assume I'm sincere, and (b) help me reach an intelligent way to achieve our objective of getting you out of here:

1) Matt must be satisfied with the solution, and he has been here before. I doubt that he will accept a facile "mea culpa" and let it go at that.

2) We can take it as given that you will be attacked when you return to posting. For whatever reason, there are people who cannot resist the temptation to goad you into an inappropriate response. You and I can agree these people are small-minded (and worse), but that does not make their attacks any less irritating or painful for you. It will take guts to avoid confronting them, but if you yield to the temptation you will probably wind up right back in here.

3) Perfection is unattainable, nor do I seek it.

4) Counting ("I won't do it more than three times") is childish and evades the issue. Worse, it focusses attention on the wrong topic ... your count rather than your behavior.

5) Matt wants you to post about stocks. I have no quarrel with that, but my own objective is to see more of the quality ideas you've expressed from time to time. When I seek them now, it is an impossible task; you have so much nonsense on the boards that hunting for the good ideas is like hunting for the proverbial needle in the haystack. I'd love to be able to go to your profile page, look at your last 50 posts and find a majority of good ideas.

That is not comprehensive, Joe, but it may give you an idea of the problems we face and some goals. No matter what I think or wish for, nothing can be accomplished unless the goals are yours.

Fred
