#83896 RE: Laize #83890

Let me say first off, that there's no substitute for a big screen, or multiple screens if that's what you're into. I used to play FA/18 Hornet, a military flight simulator, and if you could get three monitors on it, you could look forward, and have a left and right window view as well.

But I don't see that being the need for everyone, and I really tend to think it's a subset, and that most folks ran that game with just one monitor.

Now, the other things you mentioned:

- Gaming *
- Media viewing and storage*
- Shopping *
- Educating
- Social Networking*

I see lots of gaming happening on the iPad, but not every game. But a lot. And of course we don't know yet what kinds of bells and whistles will appear on later incarnations of the device. Maybe you'll be able to set it in a cradle, and have it drive an external monitor. Maybe not.

I'm not saying it's going to be everything for everyone, but I can see people viewing media, if not storing it all, but I took mine to the ocean this weekend and sat in my gazebo and watched movies. I had four movies with me on my 16 GB iPad, and it wasn't bad at all. It just wasn't 'home theater'. External speakers would have been nice.

I don't see anyone needing a giant screen and huge harddrive to go shopping, or to take advantage of education, or social networking. All of those can be done on a tablet.
