Those marked with an asterisk are the primary uses of the internet among all internet users in my generation. Enough people in my generation play online computer games that dozens of highly successful companies have built their foundations on the 18-35 year old population. World of Warcraft alone has 11 million subscribers. That's $165M a month that plunks right down to ATVI's bottom line not even including optional sales. So yes, I do believe there are enough people who want to game who need more than a tablet.

It's not an issue of "wanting to be tied to a desktop". It's the same thing as a television. There are portable televisions all over the place to be purchased. How many do you actually see? The size of the device makes it unappealing to watch, despite the practicality of mobility. Games are even more detail oriented, so a small screen hurts even more.

I just think that people in my generation view the iPad as something of a "that's pretty cool" rather than "I gotta have it!" like a smartphone.
