What you have said in your second paragraph would be absolutely correct if the company were not in BK. But it is, and this changes things rather dramatically. You can not apply the same rules to a company in BK as you would to a company that is not in BK.
I think about the BK as an alternative financial universe with a completely different set of laws of physics. It worked for me so far, helped me navigate the BK waters safely, and contributed to my bottom line rather handsomely. I know, you do not have to follow this kind of thinking...
