I imagine to increase shareholder value. I think he is trying to prove a point now. I can't think of any other reason. It really looks like he reads the boards and he is just trying to show everyone that he is actually working to make a much better situation for shareholders. So far so good. I'm impressed!

Seems the goal is to build a wealthy and successful company, help shareholders now that he's in a position to do so and make himself credible.
