Einstein once said that the hard part of inventing was coming up with great ideas, and that all that was required after that is average technical skill to reduce it to practice. This is not too far from the mark, however average skill takes time to get things done.>
I think you will find that science is slow because most scientist don't have a clue. And most "break throughs" occur from some bumbling scientist stumbling around in the dark tripping over something and going, what the hell was that? <g> If they really knew what they were doing, they wouldn't have to trip over things, but could simply predict them and then go find them.
