have to say, though, that it doesn't bring me a great deal of satisfaction because an awful lot of people got hurt before the scams got shut down. i can only hope the fuss we kicked up saved a few people a few pennies.
and certainly, having the authorities put the "evil doers" behind bars is going to save more people in the future.
i'm waiting for someone to file a massive class action against Nasdaq itself: it is absolutely asinine to allow trading of stock in "companies" that don't even meet the bare minimum reporting requirements.
on a somewhat tangential note...my sweetie and two-month-old and i were at a cafe grabbing coffee and munchies. at one of the other outside tables a young lady (<20) was chatting with her mom and aunt. turns out she wasn't going to be able to attend college this semester because she didn't get enough financial aid because on last year's application her family had more than enough money...
you can see where this is going, i'm sure...
but since jan 1 her college fund has been absolutely demolished by the ongoing bear and now there isn't enough to pay tuition.
yes, there are personal responsibility, financial planning issues etc etc etc...but it still really really sucks for this kid who did nothing wrong...
ah well...
life goes on.
