Since the annual sales of automobiles in the USA is running around 11.5 million, down from close to 17.0 million the "to save jobs argument" is ridiculous. There are numerous other manufacturers in the US that could easily have filled the void.
Funny....the UAW ended up with approximately 40% of the "new" GM stock. That would seem to indicate some form of favoring the UAW? But of course that's a "partisan" evaluation.
So apparently when Delphi's white collar (nonunion) retirees were allowed to watch their retirement plan fall apart in bankruptcy while the UAW workers pensions were "miraculously" kept intact, that wouldn't be considered a partisan decision to favor the UAW?
