Matt Schissler Q and A for week 4/3/10 ------Everyday there are more and more discoveries regarding stem cells and possible uses from all over the world. How do you keep up with it all?

We have two employees who's job description is to keep up with it. some stuff we post on our site, others we don't see the value. But yes, its a full time job.----------------------------------------The state of CT is discussing a public cord bank.
Do states usually run the program themselves or do they hire companies like yours to run the program?
Once a state creates a public cord banking system does it follow that any insurance company in the state will also see the benefit of cord storage for their customers? ...
If so what is CBAI doing to proactively work with insurance companies in the future?
Thanks.

ANS: the states outsource it to companies like ours, usually. NJ did the same thing and outsourced it to a few blood banks. Insurance companies will not see the benefit, other than to purchase any cord blood samples they need that were paid for by taxpayer dollars. 90% of our sales come from the insurance channel. See the press release with our agreement with the NLO and Blue Cross. We're the only UCB bank that pursues this vigorously.----------------------------------------------------------------Can we ask why the Transfer Agent is holding back the Share count ?

ANS: its a slippery slope. We are required to report this number to the SEC at particular times during the year. We stick by the SEC guidelines. if the TA released the info, then one person calling would have a material advantage over another trader,... which will get us all in trouble. We'd have to do a press release every day on the number of shares, under rule Reg FD. Thus its best to stick what the SEC requires, and that is what we decided to do. there is a reason for the guidelines. This is the last I am going to say on this issue because all it is, is "Chat board folly." its immaterial to the direction of the business. I don't care what any investor wants to say about it, because they've never run public companies. Its dangerous territory thus we will stick by the guidelines required of us.------------------------------------Matt our Canadian Investors on IHUB would like to know if CBAI has an Interest to Aquire or start a Company in Canada ? From Mofnc
ANS:
we have looked at Canada in the past, and will continue to look for a good opportunity or entry point--------------------------------------What was the spark to interview and choose Shamoon Ahmad, M.D., Director of CBAI Medical Advisory Board.
ANS: The #1 spark is his transplant history. He's a decorated oncologist. he transplants stem cells in cancer patients. We have experience in storing stem cells and manufacturing product, but we need opinion from... the other side of the table on what a future stem cell transplant will look like.-------------------------------You have mentioned that using samples that are stored for treatments bring in approx. 20k -40k per sample through the family and/or insurance companies if they purchase them. It appears your main goal of achieving more samples from families, for private storage, is to go through using Insurance companies, such as BCBS ...and othesr. Do you see CBAI venturing into the public market to obtain the right to sell to insurance companies samples that are stored through public donation.

ANS: we are interested in the public market. We just need to figure out a profitable business model. We've seen a number of models, but all require significant investment and still are not really profitable. so, its one thing we continue to discuss as it is of interest, but there is no guarantee we will ever enter into the market----------------------------------------------------------------You want to announce recently stored in fatty tissue, placentas, and others to further diversified income benefit your company ... What do you think is a reasonable time to bring this up? second half of 2010? 2011?

ANS: Again, we don't say when we will announce something for a multitude of reasons. One, the SEC will f...rown upon it. but more importantly, you never want to telegraph your punch. the competition reads these boards too.---------------------------------------You announce in 2009 the addition of Aruba, Germany and several other countries ... These are they a success? or a flop? Do you intend to publish an update on this subject in the near future?
ANS: They are taking some time to expand for numerous reasons. Mostly because we are in affiliate relationships and it is under... their control. I can't announce if we intend to publish something-----------------------------------------------------------------Do you intend to do the same knowing that France has about 800 000 births per year?

ANS:
not sure what is being asked----------------------------------------------- How do you hope to collect samples about a year through the contract with Biocell?

ANS:
please clarify question----------------------------------------------------For two years now, CBAI announces stock to approximately 20 000 cord blood is that it so far? Will there soon be an update for this purpose?

Ans: maybe - there are reasons we don't share, mostly because of competitors and our strategy overall in the market for acquisitions. Somethings are best left unsaid so we can execute our strategy more effectively.---------------------------------------------Would we ever get the chance to hear stories from the family's that have been helped from the storage of stem cells with CBA. I am sure the company would need the promission from them but i also don't see why the familys would not provide the out come to help encourage others to store there childrens cord blood

ANS: Yes, if the family elects to do so. it's their privacy. Of our transplants thus far, some are still ongoing, some are completed. The most notable one is Jan 3, 2007, in the american academy of pediatrics. We were on Good Morning America in March of 2007 because of this.----------------------------------------------------
