Utility Marketing Concepts (UMC) began as a distributor to the rural electirc cooperatives in 1985. It was developed to meet the growing demands for Rural Electric Cooperatives to better control load. In some cases these co-ops were giving away water heaters, but also experiencing quality problems, recalls and the member complaints that come with poor quality products. UMC partnered with State Brand, a manufacturer well known for quality and dependability to fill the need for competitively priced, high quality water heaters.

Water Heaters Manufactured Exclusively for Rural Electric Cooperatives
In the early 90’s more and more requests were being made to create a new brand of water heaters specifically manufactured to meet the specific needs of Rural Electric Cooperatives. Together UMC and State Water Heaters developed the Freedom Brand water heater. This line of custom manufactured water heaters includes water heaters for every size family, dairy barns as well as solar and geothermal applications. Today UMC is the exclusive distributor of Freedom Brand Water Heaters as well as other high quality, dependable products specifically for Rural Electric Cooperatives .
