Cortex is still an unknown small biotech to the media...
but I think 2005 is the year this changes.
When Cortex/Ampakines are mentioned in the press it has almost always been for memory indications, and the articles continue to mention CX-516 which is dead as far as future development - all of Cortex's upcoming Phase II's and pilot trials will be using CX-717.
Parkinson's is one indication I can forgive them for for not mentioning Ampakines. Lilly had a PD/Ampakine Phase II that recently terminated due to toxicity issues, and it looks like it may take at least a year (very rough estimate by Cortex's CEO, Dr. Stoll) for Cortex to develop a high impact Ampakine that gets around the toxicity issues.
In the meantime Cortex is the only company with a safe low impact and (so far) effective Ampakine in CX-717. If the Sleep Dep Phase II's planned for early next year plus the pilot studies in PD, ADHD, and AD show promise and result in a BP deal, then the press will discover Ampakines... Aiming4.
