As you mention, I personally think the only reason the dollar is as high as it is comes entirely from repeated pumps by the PPT. At some point it will no longer work - that is the unambiguous history of currency intervention. Perhaps we are there. I also notice that in addition to the sharp drop in the dollar, gold has added to its gains for the day, and is above $310.

$USD: It was up just 3.5 hours ago. Since I'm expecting whipsaw action tomorrow, I won't be surprised by a dive or another ramp in the dollar. Mebbe the tough Cheney talk is causing oil & gas to spike.... which could dump the mkt on its ear.
