Do you consider Medicare and Social Security and Medicaid part of spending? Do you look at states when you look at spending?
I think you massage the issue....
The Great Society legislation alone was probably the largest expansion of government spending in history..perhaps of the world, closely followed by Social Security.
Not certain how you would square that with your "revisionist" comment, but I'm all ears.
