Re: I hope the repubs continue with follow your tired approach of being big on accusations and foot dragging and small on solutions and you will get creamed again in 2010.
With all due respect, Bulldzr, take a look at what Brown said to win the election.
- He said that he's against bailing out the Wall Street banks, because that's what Obama did.
- He said that he's for health care reform, but not the boondoggle created by the Democrats.
- He said he's against big spending, and wants to give people tax cuts.
You do realize that these promises - as empty and misleading as they are - resonate with the public, and they will easily vote you into office in the hope that you might bring about that "change".
That's why the premise of your argument - as much as we as follow progressives would like it to be true - is not the perspective that the majority of voters have. They can be convinced that the Republicans make better Democrats than us Democrats, and they're ready to kick out of office whomever happens to be in power. They don't care whether they have to kick out Bush to replace him with Obama, or kick out Obama's Democratic majority to replace them with Republicans.
Once you realize that this is the case, then maybe we can talk about what Democrats SHOULD be doing to win back the public. However, wishful thinking alone is unfortunately not going to do it.
