WSJ Ponders GE/Rockwell Deal
By Tiernan Ray

The Wall Street Journal’s Deal Blog this morning riffs on JP Morgan’s Steve Tusa’s note yesterday saying General Electric (GE) could be looking to buy Rockwell Automation (ROK) for $60, a 30% premium. The blog’s Paul Glader makes the case that Rockwell might replace the media revenue GE is giving up with its sale of NBC/Universal stake to Comcast (CMCSA).

However, high unemployment, historically low levels of capacity utilization and a very cautious capital spending outlook create uncertainty as to the shape of the recovery in manufacturing."
