I feel bin Laden or al Qaeda which has flourished under Bush will very soon begin a campaign to take Jerusalem.

In an article published on Monday by Washington Times, de Borchgrave claims that Bin Laden “evidently enjoys high-ranking protection” in Pakistan. He believes that the Saudi dissident is seeking to assume a leadership role in the Islamic world after Yasser Arafat’s eclipse because of ill health.

Al Qaeda couldn’t ask for a better recruiter than Bush. Under Bush’s tenure al Qaeda has grown stronger. We know al Qaeda is gathering forces in Northern Africa and we have seen their bombing of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula. Thus a revitalized al Qaeda in Sinai is that much closer to its objectives, to take the Holy Places.

Bin Laden sees the Muslim world as continually invaded, divided and weakened by outside forces. Among these is the Americans in Saudi Arabia and the Israelis in geographical Palestine. He repeatedly complained about the occupation of the three holy cities, i.e., Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem.

The cover of a magazine called The Window shows a woman weeping as a cobra bearing the Star of David looms over Muslim protesters at the Dome of the Rock, the holy Islamic site in Jerusalem. A pamphlet with an American soldier superimposed over the holy city of Mecca urges readers, "Fight until there is no discord and all of religion is for God." A yellow paperback book, "Announcement of Jihad Against the Americans Occupying the Land of the Holy Places," shows a map of Saudi Arabia encircled by American, French and British flags. Its author was "Sheik Osama bin Laden."
