Is bin Laden seeking to assume Arafat’s role or similar?

And does this have anything to do with Egypt’s Red Sea resort explosions?

Not so far fetched, al Qaeda appears to be moving in.

Veteran journalist Arnaud de Borchgrave, who in the past has declared Bin Laden to be living in Peshawar, has once again expressed his certainty that the Al Qaeda fugitive has found refuge in Pakistan. In an article published on Monday by Washington Times, de Borchgrave claims that Bin Laden “evidently enjoys high-ranking protection” in Pakistan. He believes that the Saudi dissident is seeking to assume a leadership role in the Islamic world after Yasser Arafat’s eclipse because of ill health.

On October 7, explosions shook popular resorts on Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, where Israelis were vacationing Thursday night at the close of a Jewish holiday.

Israel accussed al-Qaeda of masterminding the chain of blasts targeting Israeli tourists in Egypt's Red Sea resorts instead of the usual radical Palestinian militant groups.
