#506 RE: DewDiligence #481

Quite a controversy erupted on CNN last night. We have this story from one observer:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/OPINION/12/07/balog.extreme.ice/index.html

Note he does not answer what the source of the problem, if any, is. He seems to think the "problem" is human-caused and can be controlled by humans.

Then it seems that FOIA requests for research data are somehow getting sidetracked so that only data supporting "global warming" theory is released. A number of stories on both sides are here:

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/tech/2009/12/07/siu.climate.emails.cnn

Regrettably, these seem to be all video. But this headline for tonight's news caught my eye, no doubt a reprise of this early morning TV news:

>>Global Warming: Trick or Truth? Thousands of email's between some of the world's leading climate scientists were stolen and leaked to the internet. What is the impact of these e-mails on the scientific community and on the upcoming climate change convention in Copenhagen? Tune into 'Campbell Brown' tonight at 8 p.m. ET for the latest on the global warming debate.<<

Look for names like Patrick Michaels of the Cato Institute, Peter Liss(E.Anglia of all places--sound familiar?), Michael Mann and Bill Nye(the Science guy). Quite a debate early this morning about research counteracting the current global warming theory being ignored or deliberately ditched by editors of peer-reviewed journals who have been pressured by someone[who??] to avoid hints of scientific disagreement with current theory being published.

Who knows the truth? This gets back to my original question which you answered with that very interesting article by Professor Plimer, who said in part:

>>""Those who believed scientists to be relentless seekers of the truth will have been shocked by the row sparked by a hacker who got hold of emails sent by staff at the University of East Anglia.

It has been claimed that the emails exchanged by members of the university's Climate Research Unit showed statistics had been finessed using 'tricks' and material that didn't fit the computer model of Climate Change presented to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was allegedly suppressed."
