The only advantage at the current time is being able to utilize more ram. A 32 bit system can only recognize about 3.4 gigs of ram whereas 64 can use gobs of ram. There are a few (very few) programs that take advantage of the 64 bit architecture. Computing is headed that way but it will be several years from what I have read.
It is better to just start fresh than to migrate your programs. Migrating always brings the problems you might have had to the new OS and didn't know about....yet. If you are willing to spend the time, a fresh install is best. Have you run the Windows 7 readiness test to see if their are any problems you might have with your software and hardware? That's an essential.
