it is not pert of the OS because

They would get sued for anti trust by every AV provider on the planet.

And, you have to put up with the 'security updates' because there's only so much stuff they can find, fix, and harden at once.

Honest, this software stuff is hard. Even for Borg like Mr/ Softie employees. Maybe worse.

Frankly, I am routinely amazed that it works at all.
