Barcelona beat Harpertown in many benchmarks, it was competitive.

Nonsense.

Intel miscalculated too as shown by the downturn exposing the inherent overcapacity I have always talked about with drastic effect on profits.

Heh... if you go into a severe downturn and you don't have overcapacity then you were leaving billions of dollars on the table before in lost opportunity.

AMD x86 is providing GF with the volume it needs to fill its FABs and it will prop AMD as necessary to provide those volumes, it will be a constant thorn in Intel's side going forward. Ruiz assured AMD's long-term survival regardless of its year to year competitiveness

As you're so fond of pointing out, there was always someone willing to prop up AMD. I believe you posted your belief that IBM would buy them on more than one occasion. So it really didn't matter which joker they had for a CEO, someone would step in to save them from their own incompetence.

pure genius. He also just got $1.25bn out of Intel and eliminated foundry limitations, break free ! lol

$1.25B is a sad ending to this saga for Intel, I agree, and it's sad to see legal extortion like this succeed. I wonder how much it cost them to get that $1.25B (lawyers fees, IT manpower drudging up 5 years worth of email, lost customer good will, etc.).

The good news is that AMD is forced now to compete on the merits of their products with no free handouts from Intel, so it's back to failing as usual (for the most part). I'm sure a couple of years from now you'll have an idea of just how badly it sucks to be AMD without using the excuse of being unfairly bullied by their bigger competitor.

As for Ruiz, you'll note that was in fact no longer with AMD when the settlement was hammered out. Within months of him leaving AMD for GF, AMD management with actual leadership realized that it would be prudent to settle before trial (hm, now why would that be?). And then of course there's Ruiz's truly pathetic involvement in the insider trading busts. What a genius, LOL.
