I think that there has been a big change in AMD management that allowed the antitrust settlement to move forward. Hector Ruiz is gone and Dirk Meyer is now the CEO.
I don't think that the settlement would have happened if Ruiz was still around. The fact that Ruiz was pushed out the door and into GloFlo is an indication that the AMD Board recognized Ruiz's failures.
Meyer has an engineering background and wants to move forward with a new business plan. He can implement the forget the emotional baggage and act like "statesman" in the industry.
