<From my understanding everybody and their uncle makes an AV softwaresolution.>
But no one makes AV software fitting the description of Exobox’s; assuming their description from years back still holds. If anyone did, then why would worms and virus continue to be a problem?
The AV is the software I’m interested in seeing developed.

< I'd rather be in the position of being the ONLY one doing something really needed. The data leaking stuff fascinates me... as I do believe that this is going to continue to be a growing need.>
Someone said basically the same thing a few days back; that the potential for data leak software exceeded the potential for the AV software. I’m not in the software security business so my insight is limited, but this is how I see it.
If every business in the entire world was a potential customer for the data leak software (which they aren't), that would amount to X-number of sales.
With the AV software, you would have these same businesses as potential customers (they have computers), but you could also add in the computers of every other tom, dick, and harry on the planet. I fail to see how the potential of the two types of software even come close to which is most important to sales in the long run.

To answer your question.. there is a huge demand for a Anti-Virus that is bullet-proof. 2008 alone had more viruses created than 2003-2007 combined. The problem is only going to get worse. There is nearly 2 million viruses on the database. I had a discussion w/ my Company's IT Consultant and he's telling me the same thing I've experienced, he gets more calls out for cleaning & eradicating viruses. None of the AV solution he recommends & deploys to 150 of his clients (Small-Medium Businesses) caught the virus. 70% of downloader viruses are detected by AV & cleaned, but the viruses still manage to be active & does its malicious purpose of what the author had programmed it to do. We're implementing a IDS (Intrusion Detection System) on our firewall to mitigate that problem with viruses leaving & coming in our network, esentially nuking it.

What sets Exobox's AV solution different from other AV products already on the market is that it is a proactive solution & not a reactive solution. All AV products on the market currently need a virus definition update to tell the AV software when it's scanning your computer that the file is a virus. In other words, with a reactive solution, a AV software does not know that the file on your computer is a virus, unless it's being told that it is a virus. This is why your AV constantly performs updates. Without these updates, these AV products are useless. Generally to get a patch fix (virus definition), it takes these AV companies anywhere between 24-36 hours after a release of a virus to get a fix out to customers. This leaves your computer in a vulnerable state until a virus signature or definition is released & updated on your AV Software.

From the whitepapers I read by Exobox, produced by OSR, Exobox's solution is essentially a virtualization of your Operating System. Once infected, all you have to do is turn-off or reboot your machine to be virus free. =) Virtualization is the hottest talked about topic in the IT realm. Sharepoint is another, but we won't discuss about that. Because of Exobox's AV Solution, there is no need for an update definition ever. You only need to install the Software & forget about it. This a "proactive" solution & not a reactive solution. If you ever used VMware, you will know what I'm talking about.

Data Leak is another hot topic. It is government regulated to be SOX, PHI, DSS, etc. compliant. With government regulations, adoptions of such data leak products is top priority. Not to mention, that companies are losing huge money on data loss, due to data thief.

TO be honest with you, the reason I invested in this company in the first place is because of the bullet-proof, no update ever AV product. However, I really like the Data Leak Products just as much. =)
