Re: Obama has continually railed against Fox News, and so have his people, which is the SAME THING.

In my eyes, it was a mild criticism, and the response from Fox News has been as if it were a Constitutional affront. It's actually not unprecedented that a president criticize his own critics. It may be a first that the primary target of criticism is a media engine, but I really don't see the distinction. As long as the White House isn't suggesting they force a change in programming, there's really nothing to get upset about. Obama and Fox News have diametrically opposing viewpoints, and that's the result of the Fox News president, as well as the people he hires as "news anchors".

Re: They have Anita Lewis (Wife to the soon to be Head Council when the other one is fired) his communications director or whatever they call it, monitoring the Glen Beck show to watch for "inaccuracies" This is why Glen Beck put in a Red Phone and set the number registered mail to her office. So they could call when those supposed inaccuracies occur. He corrected some minor details they pointed out, like they said Van Jones is not a Czar and other small things which didn't effect the voracity of his information at all. When Beck does make an error, he comes out and puts it on his show close to the front of the show and straitens it out.

It sounds as if Beck's show has gone through a lot of effort to try to convince his viewers that he can be trusted as factual. Unfortunately, that hasn't made it true, and Beck has made many unsubstantiated personal attacks on all kinds of people. I'm sure he'll point out his own errors - when it's in his best interest - but he's just as often been wrong and silent about it.

I don't have any personal hatred for Glen Beck, or anyone else. Of course, I believe hatred is a non-effective emotion that only hurts the person feeling it - but I've seen enough to have serious doubts about Beck's honesty.

Seriously, you might really like the guy, and relate to a lot he tells you. He has a big audience and a lot of fans, so I'm sure charisma plays a big part. But I suggest keeping an open mind about this one. Beck has critics for many reasons, and it's not just because he's Americas biggest patriot.

Re: You make the mistake of taking inaccurate biased statements about Fox News, as fact, they are wrong. Some mix the News up with the Opinion and Entertainment shows. YOU are getting BAD information.

I can keep an open mind, too, Omega. You tell me when the best time to watch is for getting balanced news, and I will tune into that program and see for myself. All I can say is that after watching Hannity, O'Reilly, and several other people behind a desk appearing to discuss "news", that it's mostly ripe with partisan opinions. That's just what I've seen.

Re: Would you judge NBC by the ED show? Or Oberman? or Madow?

Well, these guys are all on MSNBC. NBC has different programming, just like Fox has different programming than Fox News. The only thing NBC and MSNBC have in common is that they are owned by General Electric.

And personally, I find I get the most unbiased, uncommercialized news from PBS, News Hour with Jim Lehrer.

Re: They tried to keep them out of the pool interviews with the Pay Czar.

The distinction is that only certified news agencies get to have interviews. If Fox News wants to put on real, unbiased news, then they'll have a seat. I realize that the argument here from Fox News is that they are real news, and that this is somehow censorship. I understand the argument, I just don't agree.

Re: THAT IS OBAMA'S SPECIFIC PROBLEM WITH FOX. THEY EXPOSE WHAT HE WANTS NOT TO BE EXPOSED.

Ironically, this is true, but the false part that is implied by this statement is that Obama doesn't like the truth that Fox exposes, when in fact the correct statement is that Obama doesn't like the propaganda from the special interest groups that Fox exposes. When Fox News interviews people, they give air time to people like Karl Rove and Dick Cheney, who are Obama critics, and then they talk over people who are Obama supporters. When they get polling information, it's mostly by polling their own audience - and it's not a scientific distribution of opinions. When they get data on health care, it's usually from sources funded by the lobbyists working for the health care industry. All of this is well documented.

Again and again, it's just an untrustworthy source of information - that's my opinion.

Re: Fox is the only good news source left I can find

Again, you might want to try watching the News Hour with Jim Lehrer, on PBS. It's very good, very professional, and not biased as far as I can tell.
