Omega, not sure if you noticed, but Obama hasn't directed any of his criticism towards Glen Beck in particular. Specifically, Obama's criticisms have been directed against media outlets who brand themselves as a news source, but instead put out more editorial than they do news.
Obama has continually railed against Fox News, and so have his people, which is the SAME THING. They have Anita Lewis (Wife to the soon to be Head Council when the other one is fired) his communications director or whatever they call it, monitoring the Glen Beck show to watch for "inaccuracies" This is why Glen Beck put in a Red Phone and set the number registered mail to her office. So they could call when those supposed inaccuracies occur. He corrected some minor details they pointed out, like they said Van Jones is not a Czar and other small things which didn't effect the voracity of his information at all. When Beck does make an error, he comes out and puts it on his show close to the front of the show and straitens it out. Beck is much more accurate than the Obama approved media.
Glen Beck IS NOT A NEWS SHOW, he has a NEW COMETARY OPINION SHOW. It's more like the Daily Show, but Beck is accurate, Daily does half truths to make Republicans and once in a while Democrats look stupid. Funny thing is, Daily is highly trusted among democrats as a source for NEWS lol.
The 1st amendment gives anyone the right to give their opinions in a public setting, but I kind of have a problem when an organization claims that they are a trusted source of *news*, and use that as a cover to state their own *opinions*. It gives people the perception that everything they see on that network is a fact, when much of it is not fact.
You make the mistake of taking inaccurate biased statements about Fox News, as fact, they are wrong. Some mix the News up with the Opinion and Entertainment shows. YOU are getting BAD information. I'm pretty sure you didn't get this from actually watching Fox News shows. They are much more accurate and fair to all sides than the Obama 4 networks. I know, because I watch them all.
Would you judge NBC by the ED show? Or Oberman? or Madow? Do you remember the smack down on Kramer (a long time vocal democrat) when he was upset and said Obama presided over the largest destruction of Wealth in history? NBC smacked him down, he even got in on Commedy Central. He had to go get yelled at by Daily and do penance on other shows. He then started talking Nice about Obama and his plans. Then he started getting the NBC love back and they rewarded him.
Ever read 1984? It reminded me of he main character and how he got "fixed" and what he was like towards the end.
That's why the Whitehouse has made statements saying that Obama would debate with Fox News, but only in the way a person would debate the opposition. It's a criticism, but it's not censorship, because no one has suggested that Fox News stop reporting. It's their 1st Amendment right, but so is it the right of Obama or anyone from his staff to give their own opinions, and be critical.
Obama and his people have come out directly against Fox News. They tried to keep them out of the pool interviews with the Pay Czar. Of course they don't come right out and say kick them off air, because they can't get away with it. They have said Fox News is not News and tried to mix the whole News network up with shows like Glen Beck and Hannity and Colmbs, and O'Reilly, which is extremely dishonest. And they will never debate what Beck says on air, except for some small inaccuracies, because they would lose that one, badly. Beck has video of much of what he has said. Beck has evidence lined up for miles. What Beck doesn't know for sure he explains he doesn't know but gives an opinion everyone knows is an opinion. There is no way Obama, or even the other networks would ever have an open debate on this information, or about accuracy, because they would come off extremely bad, especially in the last 5 years.
Equating MSNBC to Fox is completely inaccurate. They do call themselves "the place for politics" but the bill themselves as news. Now, I know Olberman, Maddow, Ed syle shows are delineated from MSNBC news shows, but MSNBC and for that matter NBC is extremely one sided. Fox has commentary and entertainment as well as hard news.
Fox is the only good news source left I can find, Though much of the style and many of the anchors I can't stand watching.
Fox does have a right flavor, especially a certain evangelical Christian Flavor pushed which I don't really like in News, but Fox is the most accurate and unbiased source. THAT IS OBAMA'S SPECIFIC PROBLEM WITH FOX. THEY EXPOSE WHAT HE WANTS NOT TO BE EXPOSED.
