Language support in Windows can be altered by Control Panel, Keyboard, Language tab, provided your Windows has Multilanguage Support installed.

To install Multilanguage Support, use Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, Windows Setup tab. Have your Windows CD in the drive, put a check in the box, and click the Apply button.

You probably don't want a French or Spanish computer. If you just want to type a special character now and again, use the Character Map under System Programs. Highlight the character you want, click the select button to put it in the 'to copy' box, click the copy button to put them into the Clipboard for later pasting into your document.

Cheers, PW.

Here's an easy method.

Go to http://www.csun.edu/itr/guides/ascii-chart.html
and copy the chart.

Then when you want to print one of those characters, hit ALT+ whatever the code number is and it displays and will print with your document. For example, the chart shows alt+0241 to get ñ and alt-0198 gets Æ

I print the chart and hang a copy on my cork-board next to the desk.
