My3, I am honestly not arguing against you, but I don't understand what good it is to say are patents are valid if we can't make Nokia pay for them. I don't see how that is a split decision..it seems like we just got KOed in a career ending fight. Can you explain what I am missing? Thanks.

Well if nothing else, I would like to thank you for the civil response. Valid but not infinged. That is hard to swallow. The patents are valid but Nokia is not infringing on them? How is that possible? Did the people who did the reverse engineering totally drop the ball?

I am not sure IDCC didn't win since the patents are all valid, which means IDCC has the U.K. decision of a essential patent, and now all of these after a challenge are valid. IDCC may have to just do some claim construction which makes zero sence if they was valid how the hell does more construction or different construction need be applied. If they are valid and now we know they are how can Nokia not be infringing? Does the engineers who invented these patents not know if a Nokia handset infringes? What the hell was this judge thinking? I believe his no infringement will be overturned and hopefully the patents will still pass muster at the next hearing. I still believe a settlement will happen, but hell I been wrong for so long, that I don't think I should even pay attention to what I believe myself let alone convey it to others as it apparently makes me in the end look dumber than I am or maybe I am just dumb.

IDCC just didn't get a ban but they have valid patents, and I am sure they will pursue infringement.

My question is: What good is a standards body that determines what is essential and what isn't? Seems like it is just a forum for the Big Dogs to sodmize the little companies when they find out that somebody isn't playing the game the way they like it.
