that's what homeowners insurance is for <g>... much too early to be predicting where this storm will go... also, historically speaking, most storms that reach very intense levels far "out there" usually weaken considerably before landfall on the continental US... the worst storms have been those that formed closer and erupted in strength unexpectedly

but, it wouldn't even take a category 5 to totally inundate New Orleans if it came on a very specific path, being that we are below sea level and surrounded by levees which, if breeched, would then act like a dam to keep the water in.

if you want to talk about natural disasters, i could say the same thing about the entire east coast and west coast, since there are multiple postings on this board about impending tsunamis <g>... and of course, CA is going to "fall off the map" any day now due to another quake, how long have we been hearing that one?... yet, people are paying $750,000 for a 4 beadroom ranch?

something else to consider, just living in a great city is worth the so-called risks... ya know, life is very short, and this is a very great and unique place down here, reminds me of NYC, except on a smaller scale, very diversified... on the other hand, sometimes i think i'd like to just venture off into the Rockies, like jeremiah johnson, <g>
