New Orleans is below sea level as I recall, 10-20 feet or so. Hard to imagine what a category 5 hurricane with a 20 foot storm surge would do.

I've never been able to see why anyone would sink a lot of money into New Orleans real estate given the geographical realities, below sea level, mouth of Mississippi river and all that BWTHDIK.
